Do your gums bleed daily?
If they do you need to see a dentist NOW
- Gingivitis is a serious chronic condition caused by the long-term effects of plaque, a sticky material made of a build up of bacteria, mucus and food debris and hard plaque (tartar).
- Most of us have some degree of gingivitis from time to time
- Consistent dental care can turn it around and prevent serious issues.
- Whilst gingivitis is restricted to your gums, periodontal disease spreads into the tissue and bone that support your teeth.
- It causes gum tissue to be raw and to have the appearance of pulling away from your teeth.
- You may also notice pus in between your teeth and around your gums.
- One of the most serious explanations for bleeding gums is a bleeding disorder, such as idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).
- With ITP bleeding and bruising are signs of your blood's inability to clot, gums and mouth are frequently the first place where symptoms appear.
- Along with bleeding, you might also notice pinpoint bruises on your gums and frequent nosebleeds.
